My first love is fine art photography and the ability to capture with my camera the passions, love, pain, relationships and passages unfolding in life’s stories. Each person’s spirit, emotions and vulnerabilities, the inside jokes and history between family and friends, the chemistry between a bride and groom, the struggle of giving birth and the moment of unspeakable joy bursting forth into the world; these always tell a new and incredible story, something I could never predict. For me, photography is all about relationships and capturing the connections that exist between human beings, between people and their environments, between elements that exist in the natural world. This is why I love my job.
To each photo shoot, I bring an artist’s eye and a sense of humor, sensitivity to those around me and above all, a profound respect for the people I work with and my role at this time in their lives. My style is photojournalistic, meaning that I work mostly behind the scenes, documenting and capturing moments as they naturally occur. I approach each job as a fine art piece, paying attention to the small details, the expression on people’s faces, the way the light falls on the subject, and the overall mood and emotion of the day. I strive to tell the complete story.
On a personal note, I find inspiration and joy in about a million different things...music and KEXP, (the greatest radio station on earth), international travel, my husband’s ability to always make me laugh, the California wine country and coastline, snorkeling, swimming, road trips, sushi, Sally Mann’s gorgeous portraiture and haunting landscapes, my vibrant and energetic niece, Thea; my amazing friends and supportive family. All of these energize my personal passion for life.
